Brought up in Glasgow, Jack Kernahan spent over 30 years in practice in the Western Isles as a chartered accountant. His interest in railways extends over 50 years and after moving to Balmungie in 2011, he published his book on The Black Isle Railway. His previous book, The Cathcart Circle, is a history of Glasgow's local railway which has been integral to the city’s public transport system for 125 years.
Jack’s talk, the first of Cromarty History Society’s new season, will be an illustrated journey along the Muir of Ord to Fortrose line through his own researches in various libraries and archives and will reveal what remains can still be seen today.
Signed copies of The Black Isle Railway will be available for purchase at the meeting, priced £8.50.
