Cromarty lost one of its most important local historians when Eric Malcolm died recently in his 91st year. For more than two decades, since he retired back to the town of his birth, Eric played a major part in Cromarty History Society affairs. Not only was he a regular and popular speaker at our meetings, the Society was proud to publish some of his writings about Cromarty and the people who have made it special.
On Thursday 3rd December at 7.30pm in Cromarty West Church Hall, we will have an opportunity to share our memories of Eric and to hear extracts from his publications read by his friends and family. Speakers on the evening will be Sandy Thomson, Clem Watson, Archie MacTaggart, David Alston, Jenny Fyfe and Heather Kay (Eric&rsquot;s daughter). There will plenty of time to socialise after the formal part of the evening, when tea, coffee and home baking will be served - along with a dram to toast Eric&rsquot;s memory.
Everyone is invited to this special meeting of the Society, and entry is free to all. The Society looks forward to welcoming everyone in Cromarty and beyond with memories of Eric and the contributions he made to a fuller understanding of our heritage.
